BitMEX To Donate $2.5 Million At Combating Coronavirus

Representatives of BitMEX, one of the largest crypto derivative sites in the world, claimed their readiness to donate $2.5 million in support of funds engaged in the fight against the global Covid-19 pandemic.

More specifically, the company decided to divide the money between four different funds:

  • OpenMined;
  • Gates Philanthropy Partners;
  • Nuclear Threat Initiative (Biosecurity Program);
  • Our World in Data.

The amount of donations varies between 300 thousand and 1 million US dollars for one fund. The money will be delivered to various needs:

  • collection of data on coronavirus spreading;
  • development of diagnostic tests;
  • drug formulation;
  • vaccine formulation.

Many large companies are contributing to combating this problem, for example, Apple produces about 1 million protective helmets for doctors, Tesla began assembling ventilators at its plants, Bill Gates is investing tens of millions of dollars in vaccine development, and the list goes on. Mankind has faced a serious threat, and we can see how it begins to join in the fight against it.
