NFL player will receive 50% of salary in BTC

Russell Okung, crypto enthusiast and Carolina Panthers player, will be the first major sports league athlete to publicly transfer his salary to BTC

He will receive half of his salary, which is about $6.5 million, in BTC through the Strike product of the crypto startup Zap. Payments will begin as soon as the decision is approved by the NFL and the NFL Players Association.

Note that Russell a year ago posted a message on Twitter about the desire to receive payment in BTC. Now that Bitcoin has risen in price so much, things have moved off the ground.

The creator of the Zap project, Jack Mullers, also revealed that several more American football athletes will follow in the footsteps of Russell Okung. They will join the agreement with Zap and receive payouts in Strike.
