According to the publication made by Cheddar, Apple is currently developing plans on launching a subscription service for games.
It will work quite simply – after a user get a subscription, he or she gets access to a database of different games, just like Netflix, a subscription service for TV shows and movies.
Not many details are available so far, since the project has not yet been announced officially and it is at the very early stage of development. There is even a possibility that the service will never be launched at all.
As stated by anonymous sources close to Apple, the company has negotiated with multiple game developers in order to select the ones that will make it into their service, but it is still unknown what game genres are going to be there.
“It’s [gaming] a big enough market to move the needle for Apple,” said an analyst Gene Munster.
Many experts believe that this might be a desperate move to make up for disastrous sales volumes in the Q4 of 2018 and Q1 of 2019 and the loss of clientele in mainland China. We remind you:
