OpenSea buys NFT project Gem
Popular marketplace OpenSea today announced the purchase of NFT aggregator Gem.
Despite this fact, the aggregator will continue to operate under its own brand as a separate product. Subsequently, Gem's core functionality will be integrated into OpenSea.
Working with Gem is convenient for buying inexpensive non-fungible tokens in popular collections:
- The platform provides access to several marketplaces that can be used to purchase NFTs.
- There is a convenient mechanism for ranking tokens based on value.
- As well as the ability to buy NFT on several sites for 1 transaction, saving on commissions.
The deal, judging by the published information, was unexpected for the management of Gem. However, the developers hope that the purchase from OpenSea will accelerate the growth of the aggregator. This will be done through access to OpenSea infrastructure and resources.
In turn, representatives of the marketplace said in a blog that the purchase is in their area of interest, since OpenSea plans to expand the functionality and cover both more experienced “professional” users and people with any level of experience.
